Photography isn't always just about taking a picture of something, it can also be an art. Like creating a painting, the creators of a photo shoot tap into the creative side of their mind and transform the model into a unique piece of art. High fashion photography can range from subtle beauty to very bizarre pictures, but all of them were created to symbolize something.
The history of photography stretches back to ancient times when people used light to form images on walls in darkened rooms. In the 1700s, people attempted inventing camera like creations. In 1727, professor J. Schulze mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask and noticed darkening on the side of the flask exposed to sunlight, accidentally creating the 1st photo-sensitive compound.
Up until 1826, attempts to create a permanent photograph had always failed. A photograph needed to use the right lighting and material in order to work. In fact, the word photography combines the Greek words "phos" meaning light and "graphe" meaning drawing or writing.
Photographers used dyed dots of potato starch to let filtered red, green, or blue light through each grain to a photographic emulsion. It is then developed to a negative and reversed to a positive.
Nowadays, photography is used for many reasons like family photos, fashion photography, etc. Any photo shoot is an art in it's own way. Here is The Style Lounge's photo from our recent photo shoot:
